The makers of Documents to Go boast of providing the first mobile office application for Android smart phones with support for the native editing of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
The application allows Android smart phone users to work with doc, docx, xls, slsx, ppt, pptx and pdf formatted documents. The Documents to Go application suite includes a spreadsheet component, slide show feature and interactivity with Google Docs.
Perspective users may try out a free “viewer” capable version of the application. The free version allows users to review documents without the editing capabilities.
Documents to Go requires Andoid OS 1.5 or higher. The product is designed for Android phones and as of this time there is not a version designed specifically for Android Honeycomb.
Dataviz maintains a social media presence on Twitter and has been known to respond to customers using Twitter. Following this account may pay off because in the past Dataviz has tweeted an invitation for followers to download the premium version without cost.
In 2010, Docs to Go was acquired by Research in Motion. It does not appear as if a major new release of the app has taken place for some time. At this time it is not clear if RIM plans to continue developing and building out the app to take advantage of new hardware and OS capabilities.
