Kingsoft Office
Kingsoft Office purports to possibly serve as the most user-friendly office app for Android. The app is produced by a company that also produces an office suite that is popular for the PC in Japan.
The app provides many of the basic functions that accompany most Android office apps. This includes a word processor that allows the user to edit Microsoft Word formats, spreadsheet feature that enables spreadsheet editing and a Presentation tool with laser pointer.
It provides an intuitive initial control panel allowing the write to quickly access the local and cloud storage features. This sliding two pane panel stays in place throughout the editing process. It takes some getting used to but does provide a lot of options inside of a minimal space. This is much appreciated when trying to write from a phone or small screen.
The app includes some innovation. For example, users may activate encryption right from the editing toolbar. It also provides a one touch word count tool which activates a pop-up not only showing the word count but also telling the writer how many characters and characters without spaces are in his document. Neat!
Kingsoft integrates with the cloud storage services Box.net and contains a built-in file manager for keeping track of locally stored files. In the future, the service plans to integration with DropBox as well.
The app was originally made available for a price of $14.99. However, since that time, the price on the app has been removed and it can now be downloaded without cost from Google Play.
