QUESTION: Where can I find Word for Android?

As of this writing, Microsoft Word has not yet issued an official app for Android phones or tablets. However, files created by the popular Microsoft Office suite of products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint may be viewed and edited on just about any of the Android using any of the Android Word Processors listed to the right of this page.

Also, most of these apps will allow the user to create Microsoft Office files. Prior to purchasing one of the apps from the Android store the user should ensure that the app will open the Word files of his preference. While the most popular apps such as QuickOffice or Docs to Go should allow the editing of recent Word formats, not all apps may be able to handle all documents created by different versions of Word.

In May, app developer CloudOn released a version of its popular iPad app for the Android. This app allows users to use CloudOn's full featured version of Word from an Android Tablet. CloudOn integrates with Dropbox and Google Drive. It is free for Android tablet users and can be downloaded from the Play store.

While you can’t currently find Word for Android, there is some indication that Word will eventually be released for mobile platforms. You may want to consider reading the article “Predicting The Arrival of Word for Android” which was posted on the AndroidWordProcessor.com in April of 2012.

On June 1st, the blog featured another Word releated post entitiled Android Users Might Not Be Left Out After All which may also be helpful. The article suggested that Word may be released by November 10 of 2012.

ANSWER: You can't! At least not yet but there are several alternatives.

UPDATE: In response to new rumors about a possible Word for Android app release this site now features a dedicated resource center for the hopefully soon to be release Word for Android app.
